About
Hi! Welcome to The Squeaky Wheel! This blog is dedicated to recording my experience as an advocate-in-training, while also balancing life as a person with multiple disabilities.
Who am I?
While I’d rather not disclose my real name for privacy, on here you can call me Apollo. I am a 23 year old senior in college, about to graduate with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies in Special Education. My husband and I were married in December of 2018, and we've been together for over 2.5 years. We have an 8 year old Australian Shepard named Daisy who is both a delight and a terror. When I'm not working on this blog or schoolwork, I enjoy drawing, playing music (I play several instruments and sing), and dissecting movies with my husband. I graduate from college this spring, and I hope to find a job working in advocacy, social work, or some other disability-related field.
Why "The Squeaky Wheel?"
Well, the squeaky wheel gets the grease, doesn't it? If we don't speak loudly enough, if we don't talk about the issues we face, how can anyone know? How can anything get better? ...also, all my other ideas were already taken. *thumbs up*
What are my disabilities?
This is a long list, so buckle up! A full post detailing what each one is and how it affects me can be found here.
